at a Community College
Wondering where you can take courses?
Look at you local community/junior/technical college to start completing
prerequisites for entering a nursing program. You can then transfer*
the credits to another junior college or university such as Del Mar College
or Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Click
here to access the Del MarCollege application.
Why a community college?
Community colleges tend to offer classes at night and on weekends so that
working people can take courses. The cost at a community college is usually
lower than at a university
No community college close to you or you still can't attend the
courses when they are scheduled?
Some courses you need as prerequisites for the school of nursing at either
Del Mar College or Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi are offered
online. See what Del Mar College offers online.
You can also check the Virtual College of Texas website (VCT)
to learn how you can take advantage of an option that allows you to take
online courses from various community colleges in Texas.
Not sure if the course listed is the same course that is needed?
Check for the Texas common course number. If this does not help, look
at the description of the course to see if it matches the description
of the course where you will be transferring the credits. The description
should be similiar. Still unsure? Consult with an advisor or a transfer
counselor at your school for guidance.
What courses do I need?
See the list of prerequisites required for the nursing
program at Del Mar College.
* Caution! You cannot assume that a course will be accepted
as a transfer credit. Check with an advisor or transfer counselor at your
school (Del Mar College or TAMU-CC) before taking a course elswhere.
