Admission to Del Mar College
Steps for Admission to Del Mar College
- Complete the 30 minute information session found on online information session
- Complete and submit an Application
to Del Mar College including all required paperwork.
- Submit acceptable ACT/SAT/ASSET/THEA scores.(see
Chart).
- Complete prerequisites for school of nursing
(Health Occupations must be completed within two years of date of admission
unless students is in a health care occupation and/or tests out of course).
- Complete the
application for Admission to the Nurse Education Program and submit
to the Nurse Education Department. For eLine admissions, applications
are due in April for fall admission, and October for Spring admission. Submit applications by the first
of the month identified. Incomplete files WILL NOT be reviewed.
- Provide an offical transcript(s) to be sent
to the Registrar's Office and an unofficial copy to the nursing
department.
**A GPA of 2.5 for courses in the nursing degree plan is needed for
admission to the nursing program.
- Complete HESI Admission
Assessment Exam (HESI A2). Arrangements can be
made by the testing center at Del Mar College or if out of the Coastal
Bend area, calling the Nurse Education Department at Del Mar College.
Following Admission (prior to first day
of class):
Complete all required documents received in the acceptance letter. Background
checks must be completed and the results received by the nursing department.
Please Note: Admission to Del
Mar College does not qualify the student for admission to the health sciences
program. Student admission into the RN Program is the reponsibility of
the Admissions Retention and Graduation Committee (ARG). You
must complete an application to the School of Nursing and be accepted
before entering eLine. For more information about nursing program, please

NOTE: Medical Terminology and Basic Health Profession
skills mus be within 2 years unless health care experience and/or tested
out.
Caution! If you plan to take an
equivalent course at a school other than Del Mar College and transfer
the credits, you need to ensure that the course meets Del Mar College
requirements. For a description of the course, see the Del
Mar Catalog (Note: you have to look under the department that offers
the course. For example, look for the A&P course description under
the Biology section.) You can also contact the Del Mar eLine coordinator

When requesting the transfer of credits, an offical
transcript must be provided. A detailed course description may also be
requested. Send transfer of credit requests to the nursing department.
