| Technical
Requirements for eLine
Because the eLine delivery system is entirely online,
meeting the technical requirements is rather important. Fear not, however,
you will not need to have the latest high-end computer. A modest home
computer with access to the Internet will do just fine.
Below is a detailed list of technical requirements
for eLine, as well as links to sites and utilities to help ensure you
have the equipment and software you will need.
Hardware and Software Requirements
- PC running Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000 or XP
(a Pentium or equivalent processor at 166 MHz or better) or a Macintosh
system 7.5 or better.
- 32 Mb RAM (64 Mb highly recommended) and at
least 50 Mb of available disk space for assignments.
- A modem or other device capable of connecting
to the internet at a speed of at least 28.8 kbps (56K or better highly
recommended).
- An ISP (Internet Service Provider). Users of
AOL need to use Netscape or Internet Explorer as their browser rather
than the built in browser at AOL. Just sign on to AOL, minimize the
AOL welcome screen, and open Netscape or Internet Explorer. Both of
these browsers are available through free downloads.

- Netscape 4.05 to 4.7x or MS Internet Explorer
5.0 or higher. Please do not use Netscape version 6 as it does not work
well with our online courses.
- A sound card and speakers are required for some
courses.
Current virus software must be installed and kept up to date.
Some classes may have specific class requirements
for additional software. Usually these are common office applications
or browser plug-ins.
WebCT
Browser Tune-up
WebCT is the software used to deliver the eLine courses. Be sure your
browser is prepared to display information from WebCT properly with this
easy to use tool. You will also find links to relevant browser plug-ins
in the Browser Tune-up.
